YOURESOVAIN

This is the painting I've been working on for the past few weeks. I had the phrase "You're so vain," stuck in my head for awhile; and this is the finished product. Enjoi.

Observation deck

Every week I either get Thursday or Friday off work - this last week I decided to spend my day off on the observation deck of the capital, and of course my diana mini came with me. Enjoi.

When it's cold outside...

I'm so not ready for the winter. The past few days have been in the 50's with 30 mph winds, and even this is giving me the blues. Since I've been limited on outdoor activities, I've taken to baking! Nik and I spent the evening in the other weekend and made chocolate cupcakes with cinnamon cream cheese frosting - this is the side of changing seasons that I like :) As far as my art goes, I've been working on a piece for a few weeks now, it's taking longer than anticipated but I'll keep ya posted. Enjoi.

Portrait of a Woman - For Laura

This has been my project for the last few weeks. It's always hard once summer is over, to have a good amount of time to work on my paintings, but I did this painting for my friend Laura. The words at the top are lyrics from a Pearl Jam song - "I only own my mind, I am mine." It only felt suiting to blend the lyrics with this portrait of a woman. Enjoy.
Acrylic and mixed media on canvas
Roughly 2ft x 4ft

the last days of summer

Here are some of the last photo's i'll be posting from my Diana Mini summer collection. These all turned out pretty great; some are from camping, some are from picnics at devils lake, and some are from family vacation. More to trickle in soon. Enjoy.

Reluctance.

Robert Frost was one of those people that just understood life. This is one of my favorite poems by him; although this poem feels more suited for the fall to winter season, I none the less haven't been able to stop thinking about it lately. I hate the end of summer. No one says it better than Frost - enjoy.

Reluctance By Robert Frost.

Out through the fields and the woods
And over the walls I have wended;
I have climbed the hills of view
And looked at the world, and descended;
I have come by the highway home,
And lo, it is ended.

The leaves are all dead on the ground,
Save those that the oak is keeping
To ravel them one by one
And let them go scraping and creeping
Out over the crusted snow,
When others are sleeping.

And the dead leaves lie huddled and still,
No longer blown hither and thither;
The last long aster is gone;
The flowers of the witch-hazel wither;
The heart is still aching to seek,
But the feet question 'Whither?'

Ah, when to the heart of man
Was it ever less than a treason
To go with the drift of things,
To yield with a grace to reason,
And bow and accept the end
Of a love or a season?

"I AM NOT A ROBOT"

This is what happens when I’m left alone for the weekend – It happens very infrequently that all of my friends are either out of town or busy and yet this was one of those times. So, I decided to try out linen canvas instead of cotton for my robot painting I referenced a few posts ago. This protesting robot was my company for the weekend, and my mind is now free of the phrase “I AM NOT A ROBOT.” Unfortunately I have no open space in my apartment anymore, so this one will be hangin in Nik’s new apartment. Enjoi!

Acrylic and marker on linen; roughly 2ftx4ft.
